Week 4 Post 1

So I started by opening up 4 random websites and looked at each one, from there I determent which on I thought were terrible and which two I thought were done well.  When examining them I looked for several things, how does the website overall look? Is it clear what there business is for and or what they are advertising? Is the site organized? Is there an easy way to get contact information?  After taking about ten to fifteen minutes on each on website, looking around, making sure I was sure about my decision, this is what I came with.

Worst
Out of the four that I opened I have to say that Gates N Fences had, in my opinion the worst of the websites and here is why.  Unorganized, I didn’t know where to look, there were articles in different fonts and sizes, the title screen was small and the pictures that were there were everywhere.  The second thing that just did not make sense to me was there bar tab on the left side, with the different color and different designs I just did know what was going on in the chaos, I had to look up and down (mind you I am looking at 65 tabs) I realize what was the reason.  They have categories than side categories below them and scrolling down to see the list just seem very intimidating.  My third and final reason which look me back right away was there email reference, they had an AOL.com email account.  That just throw me off guard, I didn’t know that still existed.  By having that email on there with the combination of the website but made it look outdated and made me think that this was just an old abandon website, I don’t think I would have even bothered giving them a call.
Another website I looked at that I thought was bad was www.jamilin.com, and to be honest even after look thought the website I’m still not really sure what she is advertising/selling.  Same problem with what the “Gate N Fences “had, seemed like she just put everything she had on just the one page.  I think the worst thing about it is that there is a lot of blank space on the sides.  The contact page is what makes me loss it, it is just blank spaces, like I am supposed to know where to put the information in.
So how can this be improved? The first thing I would say is to invest on a new domain name that makes sense with what you are selling/ advertising.  By doing that you would be higher up in the search engine which would get in more consumers.  Second would be to look into easy “create your own site” websites like Wix or Weeble, they have a great layout and easy to handle instructions in how to create your website.  The last advice would be that even if your website is not great, they should always have an easy way to reach you, via email, or phone, and you should have that information in an easy place to see.  This will show right away how important you believe that customer is.

Good
MGBD Parts & Service I thought was a good site out of the four I choose.  Right away at the top of the website there what they are called and lets you know what they do.  Also, the pictures are appealing and a majority of them are the same size to it looks smoother than it should be.  The bottom part of the website is the sweets spot for me, it has the point of contact in big, easy to read letters, and they have their social media plug in there.

Great
Of course, without a doubt the best out of the four I had was Apple.  The crisp images, and the simplicity of this website is what captures you right away.  The font is the small and all the same size, but you really can’t even notice with how big and detailed the pictures are, it just makes you want to click on it just to examine it further.  Some people would think that their website is good because they have money, but its good because they know what works.  Other websites can copy this easy concept, but what really helps is knowing your consumer and wanting to make their experience to your website better.

  1. nice work, I respect your point of view. I can see why you think this way, it makes sense.

  2. I feel that websites that show too much on the page can give off an overwhelming feeling like Gates n Fences, they had just too much going on the page. As a consumer, I would probably write them off my list of potential businesses I would use based just off their webpage. The navigation was another observation I had about the page, I quickly became lost trying to find anything on the site, which would be another reason I would not select this company.

  3. I agree with you that Gates and Fences and Jamilin are horrible. Both websites have too much stuff on the websites, making them looked cluttered. And I don't know what Jamilin is selling either. I like the cars on MGBD Parts, but I'm not a fan of the website. It doesn't look all that appealing. I also like Apple's website tremendously.

  4. I agree completely with the fact the websites are unorganized and don't clearly advertise what they're selling. The layouts of the pages are poor and the sites overall are unappealing. As a customer a website plays a big part on whether a product is "reliable" or worth it. You can tell with brands/companies like Apple and Toyota that are established, that they put more work into showing their accomplishments and setting up a quality site that is a representation of them.

Week 3 Part 1

I have had difficulties in communications when it comes to businesses.   But to be fair it usually due to my lack of knowledge with the over all subject or a generation gap on the product and or person.   Like all communications, if we are not all in the same page then it will just become more and more difficult, may become irritating and just feel like you want nothing to do with business.   I remember in 2007, It was my first time having my own internet and paying for it, and for some reason my internet was not doing so well, it would go on and off.   So I called the company that was providing me with internet and I recall that conversation where at first I was confused, then irritated, than just overall upset with in 20 minutes.   We just could really understand each other, and to be frank, the man was rude and impatient with me. Social media makes it A LOT EASIER to solve problems, but a lot harder to get noticed.   I hear a lot of teachers/ professors say “lets go to Google

Week1A: My Template

I chose this template for several reasons, but my top three reasons where because to me it was colorful, unique, and simple.  The first thing I noticed was the color, to me it was nice, calm colors that I thought best represented me with out really saying anything about me.  The colors are not used all that often which get is into my next reason that I chose this template which was it's uniqueness.  The color combination you do not see often now a days which to me makes it more desirable. The last reason was simplicity, its looks very easy to navigate without looking old fashion.  I think by having everything on the screen and not having to click something else to get there makes my blogging site easy and more comfortable to navigate though.  A lot of site have put a lot of things together to make an amazing, one of a kind site, but they make it at the expense of the viewer who might have a hard time getting to where he/she wants to get to.  I am excited to see what my first p
